RECENTLY, CAMERAMAN WERE ALLOWED TO FILM TWO BOATS SAID TO HAVE CAPTURED IN THE NOVEMBER 25 CLASH. (ONITSHA IS SITUATED ON THE EASTERN BANK OF THE RIVER NIGER). TWO OTHER FEDERAL BOATS WERE SUNK AND ONE SET ON FIRE.

    BOAFRAN SOLDIERS DISPLAYED TOO THE SKULL OF FEDERAL SOLDIER, SAID TO BE THAT OF A SERGEANT ADAMU KANU, KILLED IN THE EARLIER OCTOBER CLASHES.

    MANY OF ONITSHA'S COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS HAVE SUSTAINED SERIOUS DAMAGE. THE MARKET WAS COMPLETELY BURNT DOWN IN THE FIRST ATTACK, AND THE BANK OF WEST AFRICA RIDDLED WITH BULLETS. THE ONITSHA-ASABA BRIDGE WAS ALSO ATTACKED, AND NEARBY OIL TANKS DESTROYED BY FEDERAL FIRE.

    LATEST REPORTS (7 DECEMBER) TELL OF ATTACKS ON THE FEDERAL STRONGHOLD OF BONNY ISLAND, GATEWAY TO THE BIAFRAN HARBOUR OF PORT HARCOURT. FEDERAL PRESENCE AT THIS POINT HAS PREVENTED THE SHIPPING OF MUCH-NEEDED BIAFRAN SUPPLIES. THE BIAFRAN TROOPS ARE SAID TO HAVE BEEN REPULSED.
