  • Description

A last check-up of the fastest racing-cars of the world, shortly before they appear at the start of the Grand Prix at Zandvoort these cars are driven by the best international drivers. Wellknown, famous names as Tritagnan, the winner of the Grand Prix od Monaco, Tony Brooks, Stirling Moss conferring for the last time with his mechanics, The American Harry Schell and Luigi Musso (italy) The majority of the drivers are of British nationality.

It is a few minutes before the start and the racing motorists are sitting in their cars, concentrated and full of tension for the big moment of the start.

The moment has come, eighteen cars thunder away ...

Right from the start Stirling Moss took the lead, followed by no 3 and 15. After 15 rounds it was clear that Moss had the fastest car (Van Wall) and was the best driver. He drove all 75 rounds (314 km) in the lead and finished first unchallenged.

The Grand Prix 1958 in Zandvoort has not been a sensation, because the race was lacking of competition and battle. Anyhow Mr Moss received the victory-wreath and GBP700???. This amount is very welcome as, like he told us, he and his wife are just engaged decorating and installing a new flat.
