    A new Sensor, a system which will provide the first wide angle surveillance of space, is being tested by the Air Force Systems Command at Lincoln National Forest, near Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico.

    Reflected sunlight from space objects is transmitted to these television cameras after being picked up by this optical system. Here the signal is changed to electrical impulses. These memory units store the information. Computers automatically determine if the object is a space vehicle.

    Star gazing at orbital altitudes to 300,000 nautical miles, this facility is expected to improve US Air Force space surveillance.
