    An estimated million New Yorkers cheered French President Charles de Gaulle during a ticker tape parade of Lower Broadway April 26th. The French President has just arrived from a 4-day visit to Washington.

    Riding in an open limousine with New York's Mayor Wagner, President de Gaulle raised his right hand in frequent salute. Madame de Gaulle rode in another limousine with Mrs Wagner, as confetti and ticker tape from the skyscrapers showered down on the procession.

    The days crowded itinerary included meetings with Governor of New York State, Nelson Rockefeller, luncheon at the Rose Room of the Astor Hotel with Mayor Wagner, a reception for the French community of New York at the seventh Regiment Armory, and dinner at the Waldorf Astoria for various Franco-American societies.

    He departs for San Francisco, April 27, thence New Orleans.
