    Minister of the Central Treaty Organisation Council - successor to the Baghdad Pact - held their eighth meeting in Teheran, Apr 28/30. British Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd told the three Moslem members, Persia, Pakistan and Turkey, that nothing would be done endanger their interests at the coming Summit Conference.

    He told the Council that while Britain welcomed the improvement in relations with Russia, she had no intention of being talked into relaxing any defence precautions.

    For the United States, Secretary of State Herter gave a similar assurance. He listed the three main problems to be discussed at the Summit as : disarmament; Germany; and Berlin and East-West relations in general.

    America is not a full member of CENTO, but United State officials sit on some of its committees.
