    British and Rhodesian officials met in Salisbury today (30 June) in another round of secret talks designed to pave the way for top-level negotiations to resolve the Rhodesian independence dispute. This is official film of the arrival of the British team leader, legal expert and Labour Peer Lord Goodman.

    Teams of political and legal experts were searching for wide enough areas of agreement that could warrant the calling of a summit conference. What progress had been made was kept a closely-guarded secret.

    In effect, the British negotiators are trying to replace Rhodesia's independence constitution with another that meet's Britain's settlement terms, and guarantees greater political development for Rhodesia's five million Africans.

    Among the top-level Rhodesian officials in the talks are Mr. Jack Gaylard, Secretary to the Cabinet, and Mr. Tony Smith, Attorney-General.
