  • Description

Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone have agreed to cooperate on Civil Aviation matters. The three countries signed an agreement to that effect on Sunday (10 March) following a two-day conference held in Monrovia, the Liberian capital.

Under the agreement a joint flight information centre will be set up in Liberia by the three states to provide complete and positive control of all aircraft operation over their airspace. Technical and organising committees to co-ordinate activities in the three countries' civil aviation industry were also established. Chairman of the meeting that led to the signing of the agreement was Liberia's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Transportation, Mr. William Dennis. Leading the Guinea delegation was Transport and Communications Minister, Mamade Kabba and Sierra Leone was represented by Transport and Communications Minister Mr. Edward Kargbo. The centre of operations for the states' flights will now be the Roberts International airport in Liberia. Following the signing of the agreement at the Monrovia City Hall, the Liberian Transport Minister, Mr. Dennis, described the three countries as partners in the progress of flight safety in West Africa.

The organising committee set up in the agreement will meet once a year or whenever any of the signatory states decides it is necessary.
