Today it is turning out heavy-duty lorries and diesel engines with a maximum capacity of 75,000 vehicles and 115,000 engines per year. The construction of the huge factory complex has been described by Soviet observers as a fine example of international co-operation.

By the end of 1980, the completion date for the current five-year plan, 13 different types of lorries ranging from 180 to 260 horse power and capable of carrying 7 to 14-ton loads are expected to roll of the assembly line at the rate of one every 90 seconds. At the moment there are 300 western European and American experts working on the project with their colleagues from the Soviet Union and eastern Europe. Altogether 30 different countries are represented. Here in the foundry shop engineers from the United States and the Soviet Union are supervising the cast iron smelting operation.

The American firm of Pullman Swindell have been supplying the Kama works with smelting furnaces and ancillary equipment since 1975 and their engineers have been working in conjunction with Soviet experts for some time. Technical and engineering personnel from the italian firm Fata operate the computer centre at the foundry shop.
