The famous motor boat races that were so popular prior to the last war, in Venice, have been revived. On 9th.June several dozen racing boat drivers met in Venice for the Championships.
Four nations were represented this year; Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy. Of the whole series of events and finals, the two that attracted most attention were those for Outboard motor-boats of 1,700 cc., and the Inboard motor event for craft of 2,500 cc..
The Outboard final was run over a course of 2,500 metres that had to be covered twelve times. Giulio De Angelis, of Italy, won the Championship for this class after some superb navigation. His craft is a Siama powered with a Mercury engine. 16 vessels were entered for this final.
In the other main event it was again an Italian who came off victor. Dino Celli, in a craft that he built himself--equipped with B.P.M. engine--- swept the board.
