    MRS. CORETTA KING, WIDOW OF AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) RECEIVED THE NEHRU AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING ON BEHALF OF HER HUSBAND, WHO WAS ASSASSINATED LAST YEAR. THE PRESENTATION WAS MADE BY INDIA'S PRESIDENT ZAKIR HUSAIN IN NEW DELHI. MRS. KING RECEIVED A STANDING OVATION FROM THE AUDIENCE OF MINISTERS, MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT AND DIPLOMATS.

    THE AWARD WAS INSTITUTED BY THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT IN 1965 IN MEMORY OF LATE PRIME MINISTER MR. JAWAHARLAL NEHRU.

    THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER, MRS. INDIRA GANDHI, SPOKE OF DR. KING'S WORK IN COMBATING RACIAL INJUSTICE, POVERTY AND WAR.

    MRS. KING, RECEIVING THE AWARD, SAID SHE ACCEPTED IT AS A TRIBUTE TO THE FIGHT BY NEGROES AND ACTIVISISTS IN HER COUNTRY.
