    Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew met Yugoslavian President Tito in Belgrade earlier this week during his five-day official visit. The two leaders discussed special bilateral relations and international topics.

    Lee Kuan Yew later gave a press conference to answer questions about his visit and to give his views on world problems.

    SYNOPSIS: The Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, met President Tito in Belgrade last week during his five day official visit to Yugoslavia. President Tito had just returned from Iran, where he was attending celebrations to mark the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire .... he was to leave shortly after receiving Mr. Lee Kuan Yew for an official visit to the United States.

    After meeting President Tito, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew held a press conference for Yugoslavian and foreign newsmen. He answered questions about the purpose of his visit and talked on international topics, including the Middle East situation and the war in Indo-China, and its effect on other countries in South East Asia.

    The Singapore Prime Minister also discussed the admission of the People's Republic of China into the United Nations and the problems affecting Taiwan after expulsion. He answered questions on the tension between India and Pakistan and the difficulties that the declaration of martial law in East Pakistan earlier this year had created. Special bilateral relations between Singapore and Yugoslavia were brought up in the conference. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew returned directly to Singapore after the visit.
