    CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC PRESIDENT JEAN BEDEL BOKASSA LAST WEEK COMPLETED AN OFFICIAL GOODWILL VISIT TO CONGO-KINSHASA. DURING HIS STAY IN CONGO-KINSHASA PRESIDENT BOKASSA SPOKE OPTIMISTICALLY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE NEWLY FORMED UNION OF CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES, WHICH INCLUDES CHAD, THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC AND CONGO-KINSHASA.

    PRESIDENT BOKASSA WAS GREETED AT KINSHASA AIRPORT LAST WEEK BY CONGO-KINSHASAN PRESIDENT JOSEPH MOBUTU AND MEMBERS OF THE DIPLOMATIC COMPS. ON HIS ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC'S LEADER SAID THE NEWLY FORMED UNION OF CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES WAS OPEN TO ALL COUNTRIES IN THE REGION WHICH WANTED TO JOIN.

    LATER HE AND PRESIDENT MOBUTU INSPECTED A GUARD OF HONOUR DRAWN UP AT THE AIRPORT FOR THE OCCASION.

    PRESIDENT BOKASSA WAS ACCOMPANIED ON HIS VISIT BY HIS FOREIGN MINISTER, ARTHUR BANDIO. HE ORIGINALLY EXPECTED TO STAY IN CONGO-KINSHASA FOR THREE DAYS, BUT HE POSTPONED HIS DEPARTURE FOR ANOTHER DAY SO HE COULD CONTINUE TALKS WITH PRESIDENT MOBUTU. AT THE END OF HIS STAY HE WAS ABLE TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE CHARTER OF THE NEW UNION WOULD BE SIGNED IN FORT LAMY, CHAD, ON 2 APRIL.
