Background: King Sa vang Vathana of Laos given a very warm welcome as he arrived in New Delhi on a three day State visit. The King is accompanied by his Prime Minister Mr. Souvana Phouma, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Quinin Pholsena, the Minister for Information Mr. Phoumi Vongvichit and Minister for Public Works and Transport Mr. Ngon Sananikone. The 17 year old son of the King is also accompanying his father. The King was met at the airport by India's President Dr. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Nehru. The Mayor of Delhi garlanded him and after posing for the photographers, he proceeded to meet the cabinet Ministers. He then inspected a Guard of Honour, met diplomats and after telling the press of his warm thanks for India's help in solving Laotian problem, drove away to the President's House where he is staying. The King and his Premier are expected to have talks in New Delhi about the deteriorating situation in Laos.
