  • Description

Rival aboriginal groups argued heatedly when they came across each other by chance in Brisbane, Australia, on Tuesday (23 July) during "National Aboriginal Day."
The trouble started when a group of marchers -- less than half of them aboriginies -- were moved by police from a city square to a nearby forum. The marchers -- who were protesting about alleged inequality with whites in Queensland -- found the forum already occupied by the Aboriginal Evangelical Fellowship which was holding a service.

The marchers sat patiently until the hour long service was over, but when the Evangelical Fellowship finished their meeting they refused to let the demonstrators use their microphone system.

The aboriginal pastor David Kirk said his meeting had a permit to use the forum for one hour and that time was up when the other aboriginies wanted to talk. Some of the marchers tried to persuade Pastor Kirk to join their "fight for freedom" but they eventually left without using the microphone system.
