    FORMER SOUTH AFRICAN TRIBAL CHIEF, ALBERT JOHN LUTHULI, RESPLENDENT IN HIS ZULU COSTUME WITH A NECKLACE OF LIONS' TEETH AND A LEOPARD SKIN HAT, WAS PRESENTED WITH THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE FOR 1960 DURING A CEREMONY AT OSLO UNIVERSITY, DECEMBER, 10.

    THE PEACE PRIZE FOR 1961 WAS GIVEN POSTHUMOUSLY TO THE FORMER SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS, MR. HAMMARSKJOLD. IT WAS RECEIVED BY MR. ROLF EDBERG, THE SWEDISH AMBASSADOR IN OSLO. PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WERE KING OLAV OF NORWAY, MEMBERS OF THE NORWEGIAN GOVERNMENT, MR. LUTHULI'S WIFE AND MR HAMMRSKJOLD'S NEAREST RELATIVES.

    IN A DIGNIFIED AND MOVING SPEECH, SAID TO HAVE MADE A DEEP IMPRESSION ON THOSE PRESENT, 62-YEAR-OLD, MR. LUTHULI SAID HE REGARDED THE AWARD AS "A RECOGNITION OF THE SACRIFICES MADE BY THE PEOPLE OF ALL RACES, PARTICULARLY THE AFRICAN PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUFFERED SO MUCH FOR SO LONG".
