    The much travelled American Secretary of State, Doctor Henry Kissinger told British leaders he was cautiously optimistic about further progress towards Middle East settlement.

    Dr. Kissinger arrived in London on Monday and left on Tuesday (February 18) after talks with Prime Minister Harold Wilson and the new leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Margaret Thatcher. He briefed them both on his Middle East trip and in return Mr. Wilson spoke about his trip to Moscow which ended the same day as Dr. Kissinger flew into London.

    The British Foreign Secretary, Mr.James Callaghan saw the American diplomat off. He described him as one of the world's greatest statesmen.

    Just before he left Dr. Kissinger spoke about his meeting with Mrs. Thatcher.
