    THE WORLD AEROBATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS HAVE JUST ENDED IN BILBAO, SPAIN WITH THE INDIVIDUAL TITLE GOING TO THE SPANISH CHAMPION TOMAS CASTANO. TWO CZECHOSLOVAKS - LADISLAW BEZAK AND LADISLAW TREBATICKY WERE SECOND AND THIRD RESPECTIVELY.

    THE WORLD CHAMPION WOMAN AEROBATICS PILOT IS ROSALIA ZANOZINA FROM RUSSIA. ANOTHER RUSSIAN LUDMILLA VASILJEVA WAS SECOND, WHILE THIRD PLACE WENT TO EVA KAPBASCOVA FROM CZECHOSLOVAKIA.

    FORTY-FIVE PILOTS FROM 10 COUNTRIES - INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES, RUSSIA, HUNGARY, FRANCE AND GREAT BRITAIN - AS WELL AS SPAIN AND CZECHOSLOVAKIA TOOK PART. THERE WERE SIX WOMEN PILOTS IN ALL, THREE OF THEM FROM RUSSIA.

    THE ENTIRE CONTEST LASTED FOR 12 DAYS, ENDING ON SUNDAY. POINTS ARE AWARDED ACCORDING TO THE DIFFICULTY OF THE MANOEUVRE CHOSEN AND THE PILOT'S SKILL IN PERFORMING IT. THE WINNER TOMAS CASTANO IS A JET PILOT WITH THE SPANISH AIR FORCE.

    THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, FIRST HELD IN 1960, ARE STAGED EVERY TWO YEARS. THE NEXT CONTEST IN 1966 IS EXPECTED TO BE HELD IN MOSCOW. BRITAIN SENT A THREE MAN TEAM.
