  • Description

African political leader Joshua Nkomo has decided to return Nov 10 to Southern Rhodesia after 20 months' self-imposed exile in London, UK. Before setting off for Bulawayo he said: "I must go back whatever happens to me. I cannot disappoint my people who have elected me President of the National Democratic Party."
While in London, 43-year-old Nkomo was Director of the External Affairs Office of the N.D.P. Among those who worked with him was Colloquo, editor of the Party's pamphlet "Radar", printed and published in London.

Travelling with him is his wife, Joanna, and their three children. Nkomo said there was a warrant out for his arrest in Southern Rhodesia for his activities with the banned African National Congress. "If I am arrested, Sir Edgar Whitehead (the Premier) will be arresting the whole native population - and he must decide what that means."
N.D.P. says it will "fight relentlessly to achieve and maintain freedom for the people of Southern Rhodesia; and to serve as the vigorous conscious political vanguard for removing all forms of oppression and the establishment of a democratic government in Southern Rhodesia."
