  • Description

The most valuable reptile in the world - estimated value around GBP8,000 has arrived in Zurich by air from New York.

It is a white Python (Python Molorus) captured in East Pakistan by Swiss hunter peter Ryhyner, and until recently on show at New York's Rockerfeller centre.

The snake is not an albino but an exceptionally coloured individual example of the rare species.

Pythons are not poisonous snakes but are none-the-less extremely dangerous. Killing is effected by constriction; coil after coil of their powerful bodies are thrown around the victim and slowly tightened with a force which will crush an animal into the shape of a sausage.
