    WITH A BUDGET OF 27-MILLION U.S. DOLLARS (APPROXIMATELY 13 1/2-THOUSAND-POUNDS STERLING) THE DAM SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF 1972.

    CALLED THE "MEKONG RIVER U.N. PROJECT", WORK INVOLVES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A RESERVOIR BIG ENOUGH TO POWER A THIRTY TO FIFTY-MILLION KILOWATT WATER POWER GENERATOR AND PROVIDE FIVE-THOUSAND ACRES OF LAND IN SOUTH CAMBODIA WITH REGULAR IRRIGATION.
