  • Description

The first Tristar passenger jet destined for Japan has reached the final assembly stage at Burbank in California, U.S.A. At the same time, All-Nipon Airways increased its order to fourteen, with options on another seven, at a total cost of 500 million U.S. dollars (200 million pounds sterling).

When the first Tristar is delivered to All-Nippon Airways in December, it will be first airline to operate them in the Orient. Five airlines already operate them in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe.

They are now firm orders for 126 Tristars, which are powered by the British Rolls-Royce RB211 engine.
