Background: The International Zoran Reading Competition - staged annually during the fast of Ramadan - Las just been held in Kuala Lumpur. Competitors came from all over South Zast Asia and as far away as Iran and Afghanistan. The three day contest was opened by the King of Kalaysia, Tunku Abdul Halim, who called for stronger ties between the kulin countries of the world. In his opening address, the King stressed the importance of religious education based on study of the Zoran. Men and women took part in the reading contest. A panel of judges from all over Asia awarded points for intonation, pronunciation, charity, The extracts to be ??? differed with each contestant.
