Background: They came to Sydney's Domain yesterday -- sixty people with their pets. And they came for the sake of their pets. For the gathering that grouped in the domain wee there to celebrate World Animal Week with a special church service. The Liberal Catholic Church of St. Alban's, in association with the World League for the Protection of Animals conducted the ceremony.

They brought pets of every kind. They brought dogs of every breed -- old and faithful, young and frisky. One dachshund, "Otto", proved his gentility by sitting with a white mouse on his head.

The Reverend Brian Parry began the service,--while many of the animals made friends.

The service was non-sectarian, as laid down by the World Animal League, giving to people of all denominations the opportunity to unite in their common feeling for animals. After the address, followed the blessings, -- blessings to each and every one of them.

World Animal Week-- and a special blessing.
