Background: The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Kwame Fordwor, had talks with the West German Development Aid Minister, Marie Schlei, in Bonn on Monday (28 February).
SYNOPSIS:The talks were held at the Ministry for Economic Co-operation. A spokesman said Dr. Fordwor and Frau Schlei discussed the possibility of jointly financing development projects in various countries using bank funds and bilateral West German aid. But no concrete figures or projects were mentioned, and the spokesman said West Germany didn't regard the idea with much enthusiasm. West Germany has contributed almost six million pounds sterling to the development fund of the bank.
The bank began operations in July, 1966. It has its headquarters in the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan and 44 countries are members. It seeks to contribute to the economic and social development of members either individually or jointly, and promotes investment of public and private capital in Africa.
