  • Description

A military tribunal in Phnom Penh on Saturday (17 July) acquitted two sons of the deposed Head of State Prince Norodom Sihanouk on charges of sabotage and collaboration with the enemy.

Four co-defendants with 25-year-old Prince Naradipo and 27-year-old Prince Ranarith were also acquitted...but another five defendants were convicted of similar charges and sentenced to imprisonment terms ranging from 20 years to life.

The defendants had been accused of terrorist activities, including a bomb explosion at the United States embassy in Phnom Penh. Prince Naradipo, who had been designated as Prince Sihanouk's heir, was taken back to prison after the trial to complete a five-year jail sentence he was given in April for anti-Government activities.

This film shows the trial on the 15th of July.
