    ACTIVITIES SURROUNDING THE SEVEN-NATION CONFERENCE IN MANILA, HAVE PUSHED THE ACTUAL WAR IN SOUTH VIETNAM FROM THE HEADLINES, BUT IN VIETNAM THE RELENTLESS WAR CONTINUES. SOUTH KOREAN MARINES HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN "OPERATION WHITE WHALE" A SEARCH AND DESTROY MISSION.

    THE KOREAN "BLUE DRAGON" MARINES BEGAN THE TWO DAY OPERATION AT THE VILLAGE OF TAM HOI, ABOUT 340 MILES (547 KMS) NORTH EAST OF SAIGON. THEIR TASK WAS TO CLEAR AND DESTROY A KNOWN VIET CONG FORTIFIED POSITION.

    IT IS REPORTED THAT 11 VIET CONG WERE KILLED DURING THE OPERATION WHICH CLEARED THE AREA. THE SOUTH KOREANS THEN EXPLODED A NETWORK OF TUNNELS AFTER REMOVING SOME WEAPONS AND DOCUMENTS.

    350 SOUTH VIETNAMESE IN THE AREA WERE MOVED TO A SAFETY REGION ACCORDING TO A REPORT.

    SOUTH KOREAN CASUALTIES WERE DESCRIBED AS "VERY LIGHT".
