    ROGER REIMAN OF ILLINOIS WON THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION 27TH ANNUAL DAYTONA RACE ON SUNDAY. HE COVERED THE 200 MILE COURSE AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 94.833 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE A CROWD OF EIGHT THOUSAND. HE HAD ALSO WON THE EVENT IN 1962.

    TWENTY-FIVE YEAR OLD REIMAN TOOM THE LEAD IN THE 29TH LAP OF THE 53 LAP RACE. HE HELD FIRST PLACE UNTIL THE FINISH.

    GARY NIXON OF MARYLAND, RIDING AN ENGLISH-MADE TRIUMPH, TOOK SECOND PLACE.

    THE ANNUAL DAYTONA RACE ATTRACTED 96 TOP MOTORCYCLE RIDERS FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. THERE WERE ONLY 38 MACHINES STILL RUNNING AT THE FINISH. THE EVENT IS CONSIDERED THE TOP U.S. MOTORCYCLE FLAT RACING EVENT.

    THE RACE WAS RUN ON THE SANDS OF DAYTONA BEACH ITSELF UNTIL 1960, WHEN THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION MOVED IT TO THE ASPHALT TRACK AT THE DAYTONA BEACH SPEEDWAY.
