    As the United States celebrated its Bicentennial on Sunday (4 July), four vintage cars were marking America's independence with a parade through the streets of Paris.

    SYNOPSIS: The main part of the parade was down the famous Champs Elysees. The cars are on what has been called the "Around the World Auto Race" and left Istanbul, in Turkey, on 15 June. Their journey has taken them through Yugoslavia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, West Germany, Belgium and France so far and they will be travelling on to England to finish the European part of the race. The cars and their passengers will then travel on board the liner Queen Elizabeth II to New York.

    The race is due to finish in San Francisco on August the 6th after a total journey of over 6,000 miles (about 9,600 kilometres).
