    IN LOUISIANA, WHITES CARRYING PLACARDS PROTESTING AGAINST INTEGRATION WALKED UP AND DOWN OUTSIDE ST. BERNARD PARISH HIGH SCHOOL. WHITE CHILDREN WALKED OUT OF THE SCHOOL UNMOLESTED , BUT THE NEGRO PUPILS WERE TAKEN OUT SEPARATELY TO AVOID TROUBLE. EVEN SO, GROUPS OF WHITES BEAT THEIR FISTS AGAINST A BUS CARRYING THE NEGRO PUPILS.

    IN GRENADA, MISSISSIPPI, POLICE LOUNGED ON PAVEMENTS WHILE WHITES ATTACKED CARS OUTSIDE A SCHOOL. ONE NEGRO GIRL ARRIVED WITH HER PARENTS IN A CAR THAT HAD BEEN STONED.

    A FEDERAL JUDGE HAS NOW ISSUED AN ORDER COMPELLING LOCAL OFFICIALS TO PROTECT NEGROES.
