Background: President Suharto of Indonesia arrived in Bangkok on Monday for talks with Thai Prime Minister Thanin Kraivichien during a 25-hour unofficial visit.
Many beautiful Thai girls in their traditional costume and representatives of the Indonesian community in Thailand were present at the airport to greet the President as his special plane was taxing in.
The Indonesian head of state was welcomed at Don Muang Airport by Mr. Thanin and former premier Sanya Dharmasakdi, Chairman of the Privy Council, who was representing the Thai King.
President Suharto was scheduled to talk straight after his arrival with Mr. Thanin and other Thai officials.
The talks were expected to centre on developments within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in prior to the forthcoming second summit conference in Kuala Lumpur next month.
President Suharto is also scheduled to have an audience with, and to attend a dinner given by King Bhumibol.
