Background: Viareggio's big annual carnival takes place on February 9. It is renowned, not only throughout Italy, but all over Europe for its grotesque and humorous floats and papier mache figures.
In the 'Carnival Hangars', therefore, workers are busy with tons of newspaper and glue, making up the gigantic figures for the parade.
These are skilled workers who, each year, create, if possible, bigger, funnier and more ingenious 'props' for the celebrated carnival.
