    GHANA AND THE UNITED STATES YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) SIGNED AN AGREEMENT UNDER WHICH GHANA WILL BUY MORE THAN 12 - MILLION U.S. DOLLARS (GBP5- MILLION STERLING) WORTH OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE ON CONCESSIONAL TERMS.

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SINGED IN ACCRA BY THE UNITED STATES VICE-PRESIDENT, MR. HUBERT HUMPHREY, AND THE DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE GHANA NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, MR. J. HARLEY. MR. HUMPHREY WAS MAKING A BRIEF VISIT TO ACCRA DURING HIS TOUR OF AFRICA.

    THE AGREEMENT IS THE BIGGEST OF FIVE SUCH AGREEMENTS SIGNED BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES SINCE THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL CAME TO POWER IN FEBRUARY, 1966. THE LATEST AGREEMENT BRINGS TO MORE THAT 29 - MILLION U.S. DOLLARS (GBP12 - MILLION STERLING) THE TOTAL VALUE OF AMERICAN AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES BEING SOLD TO GHANA ON CONCESSIONAL TERMS.

    MR. HUMPHREY SPENT 22 HOURS IN GHANA, AND HAD DISCUSSIONS WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF THE N.L.C., LIEUTENANT GENERAL ANKRAH. HE LEFT GHANA THIS MORNING (THURSDAY) FOR KINSHASA, CAPITAL OF CONGO KINSHASA.
