ONLY ONE OF THE OFFICERS WHO LED THE 1952 REVOLUTION AGAINST KING FAROUK, HUSSEIN AS-SHAFEI, REMAINS IN THE GOVERNMENT. HE RETAINS THE POSITION OF DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER.

    REUTER REPORTS THAT THE DIRECT CAUSE FOR THE CHANGES IS CONSIDERED TO BE RECENT PROTESTS THAT AIR FORCE OFFICERS CHARGED WITH RESPONSIBILITY FOR EGYPT'S DEFEAT IN LAST YEAR'S CONFLICT WERE PUNISHED TOO LIGHTLY.

    THE FIRST TASK OF THE NEW ADMINISTRATION IS THE PREPARATION OF A PLAN OF POLITICAL ACTION PROMISED BY PRESIDENT NASSER. THIS IS EXPECTED TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.
