Background: The Saudi Arabian foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, arrived in Washington on Wednesday (15 September) for an extended visit to the United States.
SYNOPSIS: Prince Faisal's tour will take him to south-west and mid-west states where he'll be addressing various business groups. The tour will end in New York for the annual opening debate of the United Nations General Assembly. Among State Department officials at Dulles Airport to welcome him was the Chief of Protocol, Mrs. Shirley Temple Black. Prince Faisal's official Washington schedule begins on Friday (17 September) when he'll meet President Gerald Ford. He'll also have private talks with other US officials the same day.
Next week, the Prince will meet with congress leaders of both the Senate and House of Representatives. He'll also have a working lunch with the Senate Foreign Relations committee. The Saudi Foreign Minister will speak at world trade clubs in Houston and St. Louis, before returning to New York for the annual debate and address to the UN General Assembly by foreign ministers of member nations. He will miss the actual opening Ceremony of the General Assembly.
