    INDONESIA'S PRESIDENT SUHARTO TODAY (FRIDAY) STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF REGIONAL ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION IN SOUTH EAST ASIA, DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE IN TOKYO, JAPAN. PRESIDENT SUHARTO ARRIVED IN TOKYO YESTERDAY ON A FIVE-DAY STATE VISIT.

    PRESIDENT SUHARTO MADE HIS VISIT TO JAPAN THE DAY AFTER HE WAS GIVEN FULL PRESIDENTIAL POWERS OF INDONESIA'S PEOPLE'S CONGRESS.

    THE INDONESIAN PRESIDENT WAS MET AT THE AIRPORT BY EMPEROR HIROHITO, PRIME MINISTER EISAKU SATO AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT. ThE PRESIDENT HIMSELF IS ACCOMPANIED TO JAPAN BY FINANCE MINISTER FRANS SEDA AND OTHER TOP-RANKING GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

    IN A STATEMENT ON ARRIVAL PRESIDENT SUHARTO SAID IT WAS HIS WISH THAT THE FIVE-DAY VISIT WOULD "STRENGTHEN EVEN FURTHER THE RELATIONS AND COOPERATION BETWEEN OUR TWO COUNTRIES IN THE DAYS TO COME."
    THE 46-YEAR-OLD PRESIDENT WAS LATER RECEIVED IN AUDIENCE BY THE EMPEROR AT THE MOATED IMPERIAL PALACE IN THE HEART OF THE CAPITAL.
