Next week (13th November, 1978) Israeli Premier Menachem Begin is expected to review the progress of the Israeli-Egyptian peace talks. The head of the Israeli negotiating team will reportedly take part. According to some reports, Defence Minister Ezer Weizman will discuss with them the draft treaty preamble dealing with the occupied West Bank -- an area which has become a central issue in the difficulties which have arisen during the treaty negotiations.
SYNOPSIS: Despite pleas by President Carter that Israel do nothing to jeopardise the talks, bulldozers this week began clearing more land for settlement. Israel's announcement earlier that it would begin building new settlements almost brought the talks to a halt. But Construction Minister, Gideon Patt, says the work being done here is not for new settlements.
