    In Ghana, The Sowah Commission, set up by the ruling National Liberation Council to probe the assets of 13 former Ministers, members of Parliament and Government Officials, opened its investigations on Friday (23 June). The three-man Commission, which is headed by Mr. Justice Sowah, a High Court Judge, adjourned until Tuesday (27 June) after the formal opening.

    The Commission is sitting in the Farmer's Hall in Accra. Its two other members are Mr. H. R. Sawyerr, and Mr. J. Addo Abraham. They both live in the capital.

    Thirteen people whose assets are being probed by the Commission include the former Ministers of Finance and Social Welfare, nine former Members of Parliament, a Former Central Regional Commissioner, and a former Director of the Bureau of African Affairs.

    The Commission is to sit each day from Monday to Friday and proposes to consider the investigation of each person separately and complete the hearing before moving on to the next one.
