    THERE WERE FURTHER DEMONSTRATIONS IN PARIS TODAY (FRIDAY) AS WORKERS AT THE FLINS WORKS OF THE RENAULT MOTOR ORGANISATION PROTESTED AGAINST POLICE OCCUPATION OF THE PLANT.

    A DOZEN PEOPLE WERE REPORTED INJURED IN THE SKIRMISHES AT THE FACTORY, WHICH WAS PROTECTED BY RIOT POLICE. THE POLICE USED TEARGAS GRENADES TO REPEL A RUSH BY TRADE UNIONISTS ON THE FACTORY.

    THE STRIKING WORKERS WERE JOINED BY STUDENTS IN THEIR PROTEST. AT LEAST THREE THOUSAND POLICEMEN RINGED THE FACTORY TO PREVENT THE DEMONSTRATORS FROM ENTERING.

    THE DEMONSTRATORS ARE REPORTED TO HAVE THROWN STONES, BOLTS AND OTHER MISSILES AT THE POLICE, AND ATTEMPTED TO PUSH ASIDE METAL BARRIERS OUTSIDE THE FACTORY.

    AFTER DISPERSING THE DEMONSTRATORS THE POLICE MOVED TO NEW CORDON POSITIONS A THOUSAND YARDS (ONE KILOMETRE) FROM THE FACTORY.

    MEANWHILE THE FRANC APPEARED UNSTEADY TODAY (FRIDAY) AS FINANCIAL BUSINESS RESUMED ON THE BOURSE.

    ON THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE MARKET THE FRANCE TRADED LESS FAVOURABLY AGAINST THE DOLLAR, THE POUND STERLING AND OTHER EUROPEAN CURRENCIES COMPARED WITH MAY 17, THE LAST DAY ON WHICH FOREIGN CURRENCIES WERE OFFICIALLY TRADED IN PARIS.
