    SIHANOUKVILLE, A PORT ON THE GULF OF THAILAND, WHICH WAS BUILT WITH FRENCH AID, IS CROWDED WITH SHIPS FROM FRANCE AND THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC. RECENTLY THESE SHIPS HAVE UNLOADED LARGE QUANTITIES OF MATERIALS TO CAMBODIA FOLLOWING THE WITHDRAWAL OF UNITED STATES AID.

    A ROAD HAS BEEN BUILT LINKING A CEMENT FACTORY -- THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC'S BIGGEST CONTRIBUTION TO CAMBODIA -- TO THE HARBOUR.

    THE FACTORY WHICH IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, IS SITUATED IN KAMPOT PROVINCE, SOUTH OF PHON PENH. CONSTRUCTION WORK STARTED IN 1962. THE FACTORY IS OUT OF SOUNDS EVEN TO CAMBODIAN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

    MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED CHINESE SPECIALISTS ARE HELPING IN THE CONSTRUCTION WORK.
