  • Description

INDONESIAN FARMERS ARE PLANNING TO HOLD AGRICULTURAL SHOW FOCUS ATTENTION ON THE NEED TO IMPROVE THE COUNTRY'S MILK PRODUCTION.

IT IS TO BE ORGANIZED BY THE INDONESIAN FUTURE FARMERS' ASSOCIATION -- A GROUP OF AGRICULTURISTS INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THE NATION'S DAIRY HERDS.

THE SHOW IS PLANNED FOR MAY, 1968.

LAST THURSDAY (JAN 18), AN INSPECTION OF STOCK WAS NEED AT THE TOWN OF TJIPANAS, WEST JAVA TO PREPARE FOR THE SHOW.

AT PRESENT, INDONESIAN MILK PRODUCTION IS VERY LOW, BECAUSE OF LACK OF SKILLS, STOCK, AND STOCK FODDER. IT'S EXPENSIVE, TOO -- ONE OF COW COST 40,000 RUPIAH (ABOUT U.S. $150), WHICH IS WAY OUT OF FRENCH OF THE AVERAGE FARMER.

IT IS ESTIMATED THAT PRODUCTION SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE EACH INDONESIAN WITH ABOUT FOUR CUBIC CENTIMETRES OF MILK PER DAY.
