    THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN WAS CELEBRATES THROUGHOUT BRITAIN YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) BY STATIC AND FLYING DISPLAYS AT MANY R.A.F. STATIONS IN BRITAIN. THE FAMOUS RED ARROWS OF THE CENTRAL FLYING SCHOOL OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE GAVE A SPECIAL DISPLAY AT R.A.F. BIGGIN HILL, KENT, ONE OF BRITAIN'S WARTIME FIGHTER STATIONS.

    THE PLANES USED BY THE RED ARROWS ARE GNAT JET TRAINERS AND THEY ARE BASED AT THE R.A.F.'S CENTRAL FLYING SCHOOL AT LITTLE RISSINGTON. A TOTAL OF OVER 700 THOUSAND PEOPLE ATTENDED BATTLE OF BRITAIN DISPLAYS AT THE 12 STATIONS OPENED TO THE PUBLIC, THE ATTENDANCE WAS SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN LAST YEAR OWING TO RAIN AND LOW CLOUD WHICH HAMPERED FLYING DISPLAYS.

    TODAY (SUNDAY) THE QUEEN ATTENDED A SPECIAL BATTLE OF BRITAIN SERVICE IN WESTMINSTER ABBEY. AFTERWARDS SHE UNVEILED THE SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL COMMEMORATIVE STONE, SET IN THE FLOOR OF THE ABBEY.
