The leader of the Lebanon delegation Edward Ghorra, said: "The Lebanese Government has assumed a leading role in the defence of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, since the inception of the Palestinian question. At no time has Lebanon relinquished that role. Today, we are as attached to it as we ever were, regardless of the traumatic and unsettling developments which have overtaken the Lebanese scene in recent weeks. We must all remember at all times, that the convulsions and upheavals in the whole Middle East, not in the Lebanon alone, Mr. President, find their primary cause in the tragedy that was visited upon the Palestinian people by the Zionist, Israeli aggression of 1948".

United Arabian Emirate States delegate Dr. Ali Humaidan said; "Asking the Arabs to negotiate without certain conditions and guarantees, and without any framework of principle, would give an enormous advantage and leverage to the Israeli negotiator, and destroy and balance and equity in the negotiating position of the two parties".

Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Omar Sakkaf said: "We firmly insist on the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from all the Arab territories occupied since June 1967".

Translation from French of remarks by Ambassador Louis de Guiringuad: "I cannot believe that Israel seriously envisages establishing a satisfactory relationship with her neighbours, as long as the continued occupation - and we all know its consequences - blocks all initiatives and compromises all chances of peace."
