LAST MONDAY (19 SEPTEMBER), PRESIDENT SENGHOR ATTENDED A RECEPTION IN HIS HONOUR IN OTTAWA.

    PRESIDENT SENGHOR, WHO IS THE FIRST HEAD OF A FRENCH-SPEAKING AFRICAN STATE TO VISIT CANADA, WAS GREETED AT THE AIRPORT ON HIS ARRIVAL BY GENERAL GEORGES VANIER, THE CANADIAN GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

    AFTER HIS ARRIVAL, THE SENEGALESE PRESIDENT HELD INFORMAL TALKS WITH THE CANADIAN MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, MR. PAUL MARTIN. ONE SUBJECT WAS A PROPOSAL FOR A FRENCH-LANGUAGE PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION, SIMILAR TO THE COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION.

    NEXT WEDNESDAY (28 SEPTEMBER), PRESIDENT SENGHOR LEAVES MONTREAL FOR WASHINGTON.
