Background: SYNOPSIS: President Richard Nixon of the United States, who was admitted to hospital on Thursday suffering from viral pneumonia, spent an uncomfortable first night. He had to be drugged to sleep, while security men mounted a round-the-clock guard on the naval hospital at Bethesda, a few miles outside Washington. The following day, on Friday, he was visited by his family -- including Mrs. Nixon, their daughters, and their son-in-law.

Following the departure of the President's family, his personal Doctor, Major General Dr. Walter Teach, told newsmen about his condition -- and his refusal to stop working.
