WEIGHING NEARLY TWO TONS, AND COVERING 100 SQUARE YARDS, IT BRINGS A 25-COLOUR ILLUSTRATION OF THE PRODUCE AUSTRALIA SENDS TO BRITAIN'S BREAKFAST AND DINNER TABLES. THE SWITCHING-ON WAS PERFORMED ON THE EVENING OF MARCH 1ST BY LADY HARRISON, WIFE OF SIREERIC HARRISON, THE AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER, AT A CEREMONY IN THE CRITERION OVERLOOKING THE NEW SIGN.

    GUESTS INCLUDED WELL-KNOWN AUSTRALIANS - OPERATIC SINGER JOAN HAMMOND, ACTRESS ANONA WINN, ACTORS BILL KERR AND JOHN MELLION, B.B.C. TELEVISION NEWS READER BARRIE McQUEEN, AND BROADCASTER WILFRID THOMAS. WITH THE HIGH COMMISSIONER WAS SIR ALLEN BROWN, THE DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSIONER AND MR E.R.R. JOHNSON, THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TRADE COMMISSIONER.
