    The Tanzanian vice-President, Aboud Jumbe, has begun a week-long visit to India for talks with Indian leaders.

    SYNOPSIS: Mr. Jumbe arrived in the capital, New Delhi, on Monday. After being greeted at the airport by the country's vice-President, he went on to meet with President Neelam Reddy. It is the third time in three years that the Tanzanian vice-President has visited India.

    President Reddy and Mr. Jumbe talked for a while before the formal discussions started with Cabinet Ministers and officials.

    Mr. Jumbe's formal talks with a number of Cabinet Minister, including the Prime Minister Morarji Desai and the Foreign Minister Mr. Vajpayee.

    Mr. Jumbe told newsmen that he hoped the talks between the two countries would be "fruitful and would mark another milestone in cooperation among the Third World nations".
