INTRODUCTION: Britain's Hardy Amies, the dressmaker of Queen Elizabeth, has designed a classic collection for this year's spring and summer fashions.

SYNOPSIS: The latest collection was filmed at Hardy Amies' salon in exclusive Saville Row this week.

This black gypsy-styled dress was one of the few informal garments in the Amies collection which has a special emphasis this year on the Queen's silver jubilee.

Black and white, always a popular fashion blend, was featured in this suit. It's a classic design which could perfectly well have been worn 25 years ago when the Queen came to the throne.

Chiffon and silk were used for most of the evening wear. The trend is for a softer feeling than last year for day and night. This dress in pistaccio green is trimmed with ostrich feathers.

The increasingly popular shawl came into focus with this silk evening dress. Laymen would call the colour cream but Amies calls it ecru.

A huge flower print brightened this evening gown coloured brown and white. It's a Hardy Amies special with an unmentionable price.

Couture can be as expensive as you can afford. An indication of prices comes with off-the-peg skirts which start at 34 pounds sterling (about 57 U.S. dollars) and blazers 89 pounds (about 150 dollars).
