GARDINER WITH AN EMBRACE ON THE TARMAC WAS MR. MAHMOUD KHIARI OF TUNISIA, THE UN SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN THE CONGO.

    THE CONGOLESE CABINET LED BY FOREIGN MINISTER MR. JUSTIN BOMBOKO; CONGOLESE ARMY COMMANDER IN CHIEF, GENERAL JOSEPH MOBUTU; AND MEMBERS OF THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS IN LEOPOLDVILLE GREETED THE RETURNING PRIME MINISTER. AMONG UN OFFICERS PRESENT, WITH AN HONOUR GUARD OF UN NIGERIAN TROOPS, WAS IRISH GENERAL SEAN MCKEOWN, COMMANDER OF THE UN FORCE IN THE CONGO.

    IN A BRIEF STATEMENT, MR. ADOULA SPOKE OF HIS SATISFACTION OVER HIS TALKS WITH PRESIDENT KENNEDY. EARLIER, AT A HALT IN GENEVA, MR. ADOULA SAID THEY HAD AGREED ON THE MAIN ASPECTS OF THE CONGO PROBLEM - THE KATANGA QUESTION, THE REORGANISATION OF THE CONGOLESE ARMY, AND ECONOMIC AID.
