    CROWDS STOOD FOR HOURS OUTSIDE THE NAIROBI CITY HALL TO WATCH THE ARRIVAL OF THE DELEGATES, REPRESENTING NINE AFRICAN STATES, WHO WERE CHOSEN AT THE RECENT MEETING OF OAU FOREIGN MINISTERS IN ADDIS ABABA.

    IN HIS OPENING SPEECH TO THE DELEGATES AND VISITOR, MR. KENYATTA SAID:
    THE FIRST OF THE DELEGATES TO SPEAK AFTER THE CHAIRMAN WAS THE FOREIGN MINISTER OF GHANA, MR. BOTSIO, WHO SAID IT WAS MOST IMPORTANT THAT THERE SHOULD BE PEACE IN THE CONGO. HE SAID THE ONLY AIM OF THE CONFERENCE WAS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS FACING THE CONGO.

    OTHER COUNTRIES REPRESENTED AT THE CONFERENCE ARE CAMEROON, ETHIOPIA, GUINEA, NIGERIA, SOMALIA, TUNISIA, THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC, AND UPPER VOLTA.

    THE CONFERENCE CONTINUED TODAY IN CLOSED SESSION.
