    A vast crowd of 135,000 cheered the brilliant football of Spain's Real Madrid when they secured the European Cup for the fifth time after beating the German Eintracht team, seven goals to three at Glasgow's Hampden Park, May 18.

    Eintracht scored first as Kress sidefooted Lindner's centre from the right past goal-keeper Dominguez in the 18th minute. But by half time they two goals behind and were never really in the game again. Real Madrid equalized in the 26th minute with a five-yard slide into goal by Di Stefano - an opportunist throughout the game. Puskas shot a third goal one minute from the interval.

    Puskas shot three more goals for Real and Di Stefano raced through to score a seventh goal in the 71st minute. Eintracht's Stein scored two more goals but it was a decisive win for Real Madrid with their superb display of scientific football.
